Walk this way – like Roger!

Walkers, runners, cyclists or swimmers can all go the extra mile to help fundraisers reach their £100,000 target to create a comforting haven for bereaved families at Wolverhampton’s New Cross hospital.

Supported by Your RWTC, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s charity, the challenge has been set for people to clock up 26.2 miles every month in 2026.

And Roger Moore, who is an Operational Quality Manager, is doing just that, as a keen walker.

Roger had already set himself personal walking challenges – this is the third year he has done so – but he was inspired by “an important cause” to lace up his walking boots and do his bit.

He said: “I saw the appeal on Facebook and can appreciate what an important cause this is for those who are trying to deal with the loss of a loved one or trying to take in everything happening during end-of-life-care.

“I enjoy walking anyway, especially around the canal network close to where I live, so to do it for something that can make a difference to our patients and families is even more of a motivator. I hope others will get behind this challenge too, once you set yourself a goal it’s amazing what can be achieved!”

You can support Roger’s fundraising journey by donating to his JustGiving page here.

Amie Rogers, Fundraising & Lead Engagement Officer for Your RWTC, added: “Thank you to Roger for his support – we’d love to hear from other fundraisers who want to step out, get in the saddle or make a splash this year.

“We’ve raised almost £12,000 so far and know we can give the appeal a big boost with the 26.2 mile challenge.”
