Your RWTC’s £10,000 Mayoral gift

Councillor Craig Collingswood was appointed Mayor in May 2025 with his daughter Abby, a Cardiothoracic Nurse at New Cross Hospital’s Heart and Lung Centre, serving as Mayoress.

They chose Your RWTC, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s charity as one of the Mayor’s chosen causes for his term and supported a range of events and fundraisers across the Trust.

Last week they proudly handed over Your RWTC’s share of the money raised, to the delight of the Fundraising Team.

Councillor Collingswood said: “New Cross Hospital is close to the hearts of the people of Wolverhampton, whether that’s because of their own experiences, or those of loved ones. Many have received brilliant care here and felt the positive impact.

“My daughter Abby is one of the many hardworking staff members who deliver quality care to people across the city and further afield. So, when deciding who was going to benefit from the money raised, it made sense to support Abby and her colleagues, and importantly the patients they care for.

Abby added: “It’s really nice knowing the money we’ve raised will benefit our patients. I’m proud to work here, and I’m proud of my dad too. We’re excited to learn more about where the money goes and the difference it makes.”

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager, said Your RWTC appreciated having Mayoral support throughout the year.

She said: “After a fun-filled 12 months, it’s great to receive this generous donation from Councillor Collingswood and his daughter Abby. We’re incredibly grateful for their generosity and for picking us, while in post as Mayor and Mayoress, as one of four local charities to support.

“While they haven’t specified a service to receive the money, we’re confident that several teams could benefit and we’ll be glad to share updates over the coming weeks. On behalf of those staff members, I’d like to say a big thank you.”
