Summer Fair fun for all at Gem Centre

Community Services at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust joined forces with its charity, Your RWTC, to raise funds for enhancements that will further improve the experience of children, young people and families using the centre.

The Summer Fair took place on Friday 21 August, from 11am–2pm and featured a variety of family-friendly activities, stalls, and entertainment to create a fun and welcoming day for all.

Visitors, including the Mayor of Wolverhampton, had the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of services provided while enjoying activities that brought the local community together.

“We were delighted to welcome families to the Gem Centre for a day of fun, engagement and community spirit,” said Sara Eacopo, Matron for Children’s Community Nursing Service and Clinical Nurse Specialists.

“The event was particularly special as we celebrated the Gem Centre’s 20th anniversary and showcased the incredible support we continue to receive from our local community.”

Fundraising efforts launched last year have already funded three new canvas displays which will form part of the centre’s external signage. The designs were unveiled during the Summer Fair and feature playful underwater scenes including sea creatures, a yellow submarine and a treasure chest.

Families enjoyed free ice creams, food from local vendor Two Guys One Grill, face painting, hair braiding, stalls and a range of entertainment throughout the day.

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager, added: “Funds raised from this event will help towards further improvements to the environment at the centre, helping create welcoming and child-friendly spaces for the thousands of children, young people and families who access services there each year.”
